GCA and the GCA Trades Academy awarded Victoria Sandlin its first ever scholarships to a high school student. The scholarship recipients will be enrolled in the GCA Trades Academy’s CORE curriculum beginning in January 2012. The value of each scholarship is $2,500, which includes tuition, books and lab fees at the GCA Trades Academy. Victoria is a student from Okkodo High School.
The GCA Trades Academy, Guam Contractors Association, and the National Association of Women in Construction Guam Chapter, sponsored “Pizza, Pop and Power Tools,” an opportunity for girls to learn about construction industry during at the GCA Trades Academy on Saturday, October 15. Girls ages 11-17 learned the proper usage of hand and power tools, operated heavy equipment with state-of-the-art computer simulators, and learned about careers in the construction industry from women who are in the construction industry.
