“This is a dream come true,” Bert Johnston, education director at the Guam Contractors Association Trades Academy, said during a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for two new facilities in Tiyan.
Johnston said the Trades Academy purchased the buildings through a “highly competitive” $3.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.
The two 10,000-square-foot buildings will be renovated and split into two levels, creating 29,000 square feet of space for offices and 16 classrooms.
Johnston said the academy’s current facility in Barrigada is being leased and can hold six classes.
